About CMUA

CMUA was initially formed in 1932 and incorporated in 1933 to represent the interests of California’s community-owned electric utilities before the California Legislature. Following our many legislative successes, CMUA launched a new program in 2010 to increase its advocacy efforts before both administrative and regulatory agencies that may have a significant impact on California’s energy and water utility operations.

Today, CMUA represents its members’ interests on energy and water issues before the California Legislature, the Governor’s Office and the maze of regulatory bodies, such as the California Energy Commission, the California Air Resources Board, the Department of Water Resources, the California Independent System Operator, and the State Water Resources Control Board.
